Tadika Bethany Montessori brings the children for educational visits to enhance their co-curricular learning beyond the classroom and school. Learning about other aspects of life is important for the development of children even from a young age.
In this instance, the students have been taken on an educational site visit to a fire station. Whenever there is an educational visit like this, the children really look forward to it because it’s not often that they get to go on such visits and it’s likely to be accurate to say that very few of them have visited a fire station before and it might well be their only time in their life that they will visit one.
This visit is to learn more about the the job of fire fighters and their contribution to society. The visit also enables the children to learn about fire safety and to take precautionary measures to avoid risk of fires and other accidents.
The children had the opportunity to take a closer look at a fire engine. They algo got to participate in a mock fire exercise in which they had to crawl under a thick ‘blanket’ of smoke which they found to be significantly fun. The children did this over and over again!
All in all, the children enjoyed the educational visit and learned to appreciate the role of fire fighters and their contribution to society.
